Post Adoption Resources - Adoptive Parents

As you navigate post-adoption life, you may be wondering what resources there are available to you as adoptive parents and your adopted child. Here are a few resources:

Adoptive Friends and Families of Greater Seattle (AFFGS)

(from their website) AFFGS was formed in 1997 by several families built through adoption who recognized a need for more support and unity through the adoption process and beyond. We are a nonprofit support and educational group that includes both families touched by adoption and families waiting to adopt. We embrace all ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as all types of adoptions.

Pact, an adoption alliance

(from their website) Since 1991, Pact’s mission has always been to serve adopted children of color. In every case, the child is always our primary client. In order to best serve children’s needs, we provide not only lifelong education, support, and community, but also adoptive placement. Our goal is for every child to feel wanted, honored and loved, a cherished member of their communities with proud connections to their cultural heritage. We advocate for honesty and authenticity in matters of race and adoption.
