We first met in 2017 after matching on the online dating site, Plenty of Fish. Don is a big fisherman, but still considers Erika to be his best catch yet! Erika remembers being amazed at how “normal” Don was after their first date….if you’ve ever gone on dates from a dating website, you know how rare that can feel! Things felt very natural, easy, and exciting from day one and we both knew pretty early on that we were destined to be married! Don proposed in August of 2017 and we got married in July of 2018.

We married with dreams of starting a family right away, but as it turns out, that wasn’t such a simple path. After years of infertility, we started to feel led in a different direction, and we’re so grateful. That season drew us closer together and confirmed our deep desire to be parents. We realized our love for a child wouldn’t depend on biology, and that became beautifully clear when we adopted our son Reuben in 2024. We fell in love with him at first sight, and that love has only deepened and grown with all the time we’ve shared together. We can honestly say that this last year with him has been the greatest and most joyous year of our marriage. He has made us feel like a true family and we have enjoyed every minute of getting to love and nurture him every day. We are so excited to add another baby to our clan and know that we have so much more love to give!
